Soulmates

I think that in another life

I would find you.

we would be strangers, of course -

I would watch you dance with a girl

in a dress too pretty

and a smile too sweet.

you’d look happy.

but in this life your eyes do not

shine as bright

and your smile lacks its wicked

and daring.

in this life you fear danger.

I have never known you to be like that.

perhaps she has not either.

and so I plead, softly, as my gaze trails

along the blurring lines of your face

that you remember

that somewhere in another life

we scream and fight and laugh and cry

under a starless, bleeding, magnificent sky.

Beautifully written Antara … this truly connects the what was to what “can be” … great composition

Your verses delicately weave a tapestry of unfulfilled connections, evoking poignant emotions, while the vivid imagery of alternate lives beneath a "starless, bleeding, magnificent sky" leaves an indelible impact on the heart. Beautifully written.

Some poems have fluidity and rhythm, others evoke a mood and feeling, some have a magical quality to it and some are simply mesmerizing.

This one is all of the above!
